PALILULA MUNICIPALITY AND THE ART OF GIVING FUNDATION HEROES OF THE BATTLE FOR BABIES

Palilula Municipality, City of Nis and project Art of Giving are awarded with order Hero of the Battle for Babies for shown bravery and humanity in the action successfully realized in the end of the last year. This unique and significant attribution gave Veran Matic, director of B92 Fund at the ceremony in Belgrade on the occasion of May 9 – Day of Victory for the contribution to successful collection of resources for the purchasing of incubators for the natal-maternity departments in Serbia. `After the action, that was initiated by Palilula Municipality in Nis in duration of one month and in cooperation with Student parliament of the Faculty of natural Sciences, the representatives of B92 Fund with the coalition of organizations of civil societies campaign Battle for Babies got first donors also in our town said at the press conference PhD Igor Novakovic, president. Three incubators were provided until the end of 2011 thanks to the activities and support of the Municipality, support of the actors of the National Theatre of Nis, Discoteque Spark, artists, donations of the small and medium enterprises, restaurants, sportsmen, students and pupils. About two thousand of individuals joined the campaign. We awoke the consciousness of our fellow citizens added Boban Mikic member of the Municipal Council but also of those who are the leaders of our town , managers of big companies, traders, so that the number of the incubators soon increased. We would like to thank the company Phillip Morris as socially responsible company that always supported all humanitarian actions in this town.

According to Ljiljana Milanovic, coordinator of the project Art of giving and Jelena Preradovic-Stevanovic from company Phillip Morris this order is one great honour and satisfaction and a sign that we were the part of this humane action and that our social engagement was recognized. Our project has been active for 7 years and I believe that we are proud when we are successful in realizing something like this. If you remember, the first donation was also for the Maternity department. Our Company supported this humane campaign and over the project Art of giving gave the chance to our fellow citizens that take part in it, so we organized a concert where they could buy tickets. The essence of these actions is actually spreading ideas that every single of us can with small things participate in humane actions for the good of its own community reminded Jelena Preradovic Stevanovic from the company Phillip Morris. It was great to be apart of this action great pleasure that we provided incubator and also that it was given further to give to Nis maternity department. Action Battle for Babies continued also in 2012 and it was called as the year of babies.
